Dwight Hohl, Division Chief, Emergency Management of the Evanston Fire Department, provided the following information at 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 28 about expected strong winds in the area.
The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a high-wind warning, in effect from 1 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 28. East winds sustained 35 to 45 miles per hour and gusts up to 60 miles per hour are expected. There could be property damages and power outages.
Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 miles per hour or gusts of 58 miles per hour or more can lead to property damage.
