On the first day of Kwanzaa, Ken Cherry, director of Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, and seven students who are active in the Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre met at Fountain Square and recited the seven principles of Kwanzaa: unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity and faith.

At noon, a multicultural cast of children joined in a “A Kwanzaa to Remember” at  Fleetwood-Jourdain, performing skits, singing songs and reciting poetry that celebrate the seven principles of Kwanzaa.
