After three successful years at 817 Chicago Ave., longtime Evanston resident Sara Jane Abbott moved her boutique, See Jane Sparkle, to a space twice as large at 1312 Chicago Ave. The Chamber of Commerce held a grand reopening and ribbon-cutting ceremony last month.
See Jane Sparkle features jewelry and accessories designed by Ms. Abbott, as well as vintage clothing and designer apparel. The boutique also has a back room dedicated to what she has branded as “Beads and Bubbly Parties.” These events bring girls and women of all ages together to design earrings, necklaces, charms or bracelets, all while celebrating the occasion with little nibbles and a bubbly – either homemade soda or Prosecco.
“I’ve been proud to call Evanston my home for nearly 20 years and I’m so happy to be able to live the dream I had as a young tween and design jewelry and accessories for a living,” Ms. Abbott said. “I’ve been inspired by fashion and jewelry designers all my life, especially Coco Chanel. And, with See Jane Sparkle, I’ve taken Coco’s fashion sensibilities and directions and added a little of my beloved 80s flair.”
