On Feb. 2, at approximately 3:20 p.m., Evanston police responded to the 1300 block of Dobson Street after receiving 911 calls reporting shots fired. Shortly after arriving on the scene, police learned that a gunshot victim had just arrived at the emergency room at Presence Saint Francis Hospital.
The victim, a 33-year-old male, was reportedly sitting in a car when a man wearing a black hoodie and black pants ran up to the car, fired several shots, and fled on foot, said Perry Polinski, media relations for the Evanston Police Department spokesman. The victim, who is not a resident but has ties to Evanston, sustained multiple non-life threatening gunshot wounds, said Mr. Polinski. Police located shell casings at the scene and are continuing to investigate, he said.
On Feb. 9, Mr. Polinski told the RoundTable that police re-interviewed the victim and the victim cannot identify any suspect. He added that police confirmed the shooting was gang related. He said there was no further information at this time.
