Evanston Township High School will host “United: An Evening with Senator Cory Booker” on Friday, February 26 at 7:30pm, in the school auditorium. The event is free and open to the public. Those who are unable to attend the event can watch live on the ETHS Ustream channel on February 26 beginning at 7:30pm: www.ustream.tv/channel/evanston-township-high-school.

United States Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) is author of United: Thoughts on Finding Common Ground and Advancing the Common Good, calling for a reorientation of our nation and our politics around the principles of compassion and solidarity. The former mayor of Newark, NJ, Booker won a special election in 2013 to become New Jersey’s first African-American senator.

After growing up in Harrington Park, NJ, Booker earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Stanford University, where he also played for the football team. He then attended Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar before earning his law degree from Yale University.

The February 26 presentation is sponsored by Family Action Network (FAN), in cooperation with the offices of Illinois State Senator Daniel Biss, State Representative Laura Fine (17th District), State Representative Robyn Gabel (18th District), U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky, Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin, Evanston Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl, and the Organization for Positive Action and Leadership (OPAL).

ETHS is located at 1600 Dodge Ave., Evanston, 60201. The auditorium is wheelchair accessible. Guests should plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to 7:30pm to find parking and seats. Parking will be available at ETHS as well as in remote parking lots. Complimentary shuttles will circulate to the remote parking locations every 15 minutes and will drop off guests at ETHS. The shuttle service will begin at 6:00pm and will run throughout the evening and following the event.
