Chute Students Bring ‘Shrek’ to Life Chute Middle School students will transform their school auditorium into an enchanted fairy-tale world for two evening performances of “Shrek: The Musical,” based on the 2001 DreamWorks film, “Shrek” and William Steig’s 1990 book “Shrek!”
More than 200 student cast and crew members and 30 staff members are involved in the musical along with many parent volunteers.
Jenna Temkin, Chute drama teacher and Shrek director, said “This is a story about perseverance – a story that celebrates our unique differences and encourages us to come together. And, despite those differences to accept everyone for who they are. Everyone deserves their happy ending and I think this is an important message for our community.”
Performances will take place at 7 p.m. on March 9 and March 10 in the Chute Middle School Auditorium, 1400 Oakton St.; tickets are $5; advance purchase is recommended.
Anyone wishing to purchase tickets, a DVD of the performance, or a Shrek t-shirt may visit the –Shrek at Chute–website at shrekatchute.weebly.com.
