Terry E. Meland 1944-2016

Terry Meland, 72, formerly of Evanston, IL, died peacefully with dignity and grace at home in South Bend, Ind., on Feb. 8 after a long and heroic struggle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Terry loved life.  He embraced family and friends with warm “Terry Hugs.” Love for family was the Sun in Terry’s solar system. Terry’s wife, Beverly, was his North Star, burning brightly and helping to guide his journey over 35 years of marriage.

He took tremendous pride in his work and devoted most of his career to mortgage banking, establishing The

Mortgage Alliance in Evanston and providing professional training and mentoring to those entering the field. He frequented Central Street and could often be found  at Starbucks and Prairie Joe’s, talking with neighbors and turning strangers   into friends. He immersed himself in Evanston’s many cultural activities including joining the former Northminster Players theater group. Both Terry and Beverly spent many happy years supporting and volunteering for the Evanston Symphony Orchestra. His dramatic flair and joyful “ho, ho, ho” as Santa enlivened many Christmas concerts.
