On March 27 at approximately 12:15 a.m., police officers saw two men drinking from a bottle of alcohol while sitting in a vehicle in the 1700 block of Emerson Street, said Commander Joseph Dugan of the Evanston Police Department. When they approached the vehicle, they noticed an odor of unburnt cannabis emanating from the vehicle, he said. They searched the vehicle and found a loaded Colt .357 caliber revolver under the front passenger seat, the Commander said.
Both men were taken into custody and transported to the police station. The driver is a 24-year old man from Evanston who was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis, and lack of a valid driver’s license. The man in the passenger seat is a resident of Hoffman Estates, and he was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and other offenses.
