Two long-established, not-for-profit senior living providers based in Illinois have executed an agreement to help expand their missions: King-Bruwaert House (K-B), an 83-year-old organization in Burr Ridge, has entered into an affiliation agreement with Mather LifeWays, an Evanston-based not-for-profit organization founded 75 years ago.
K-B owns and operates a Life Plan Community (King-Bruwaert House) in Burr Ridge, and a rental senior living community (Godair Park) in Hinsdale. The K-B legacy also involves the stewardship of more than 45 acres of wooded property that offers year-round enjoyment for residents and visitors. K-B and each of its communities will refer to themselves as “a Mather LifeWays affiliate.”
K-B, which boasts a strong endowment with no debt, will continue to own and operate its communities. The new affiliation means that Mather LifeWays will share its knowledge and expertise to assist K-B in enhancing its offerings to residents and exploring new ways to serve older adults in its market.
Mather LifeWays, which operates The Mather senior residences in Evanston, recently partnered with LeadingAge to lead a change in the category name of Continuing Care Retirement Community to Life Plan Community.
“We look forward to strengthening and expanding how we serve current and future residents with the support of Mather LifeWays,” says Terri Bowen, CEO of K-B. “This affiliation opens new opportunities for growth, and is a natural step toward building an even stronger future.”
“We are excited to extend our mission of enhancing the lives of older adults by creating ‘Ways to Age Well’ through this agreement,” says Mary Leary, President and CEO of Mather LifeWays. “And we’re looking forward to collaborating with this highly respected organization to explore and enhance ways to serve older adults in the Burr Ridge area,” she adds.
