A temporary overnight road closure will be implemented for northbound non-local traffic on Asbury Avenue, between Church and Emerson Streets, to accommodate sewer rehabilitation work. The road closure will begin on Tuesday, April 26 at 8 p.m. and end on Wednesday, April 27 at 7 a.m., weather permitting.
A detour will be in place to guide traffic around the work zone via Ridge Avenue. There will be signage in the area to assist vehicles and pedestrians. Southbound Asbury Avenue will remain open. Please view the attached project newsletter to see the detour map.
This City of Evanston project involves the rehabilitation of the City’s public combined sewer lines using the Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) process. During this process, a liner is inserted into the public sewer by equipment staged at ground level. The entire process takes about 10 hours to complete, during which time construction equipment will be staged in the street and traffic patterns will be modified. The contractor performing the work is Insituform Technologies. This sewer lining work is being completed at night to minimize disruptions from the detour.
This project will be monitored and inspected by the City of Evanston’s Public Works Agency. Please direct any questions to Kristin Rehg, Senior Project Manager, at 847-448-8198.
