Carrie Dennis, who has been the Principal Viola of the Los Angeles Philharmonic since 2008, will return to the Chicago area to perform Bela Bartok’s Viola Concerto with the Midwest Young Artists Conservatory’s Symphony Orchestra at 6 p.m. on April 24 in Pick Staiger Concert Hall on the Northwestern University campus. 

Ms. Dennis graduated from Evanston Township High School in 1995, attended the Curtis Institute of Music, earning a bachelor’s degree in violin and an Artists’ diploma in viola.

After studying with Michael Tree, Joseph de Pasquale and Roberto Diaz, she became Assistant Principal Viola in the Philadelphia Orchestra and later Principal Viola of the Berlin Philhar-monic under the baton of Simon Rattle, where she stayed for two years.
