On Saturday, April 30, at approximately 1:40 p.m., a 12 year-old girl who resides in  Evanston was walking in the 200 block of Main Street when a male in a white sports utility vehicle pulled up and asked her about the location of a coffee shop in the area. The male asked the juvenile to show him where the business was located, exited the vehicle and opened up the passenger door of the vehicle asking her to get inside, said Commander Dugan of the Evanston Police Department. Alertly and appropriately, the juvenile refused and backed away. The male reentered the vehicle and was last observed eastbound on Main Street, said the Commander.

The male is described as being Hispanic, 20-30 years of age, short in stature, with a goatee. The vehicle is described as being a newer white sports utility vehicle, possibly a Chevy Traverse. During their conversation, the male identified himself as Jose, said the Commander.
