On Saturday, May 28, at approximately 1:07 p.m., Evanston police officers responded to a report of a juvenile struck by a Chicago Transit Authority train just south of the Dempster Street station, 1318 Sherman Avenue. Officers located one juvenile male victim, 8 years old, who was struck by a southbound train as he and another male juvenile were walking along the tracks. The second male juvenile was not injured in the incident, said Commander Joseph Dugan of the Evanston Police Department.
Both juveniles were transported to St. Francis Hospital. The juvenile that was struck by the train has a head injury and is listed in critical condition. Evanston Police juvenile detectives are on scene and conducting an investigation into the incident, said the Commander.
