The annual Evanston Garden Fair showcased the green thumbs of Evanston: Most of the plants offered for sale at the fair on May 20 and 21 came to the tents in Independence Park from the gardens of members of the Lincolnwood Garden Club. Individual herb, annual, perennial, and vegetable plants, and hanging baskets of colorful flowers were offered for sale, accompanied by free advice on planting and care.
The proceeds from the Fair will support the Evanston Community. Among the grants awarded by garden clubs this year are those to the Triangle Trail Orchard at the McGaw Y’s Camp Echo, and school gardens at Chute Middle School, Washington Elementary School, and St. Athanasius School.
