State Senator Daniel Biss, D-Evanston, and Reps. Robyn Gabel, D-Evanston, and Laura Fine, D-Glenview, will host town hall meetings in Evanston on June 14 and in Glenview on June 17 to update residents on the State budget impasse, efforts to find compromise in Springfield and legislation they worked on this spring.

“As legislators continue to work together to reach a compromise on the state budget, it is important that we communicate this work to our constituents and listen to their concerns about how the state should be moving forward,” Rep. Fine said.

Rep. Gabel added: “While I am extremely frustrated with the lack of progress on the budget and continue to focus on this issue, I would also like to share with my constituents other important pieces of legislation I have been working on in Springfield to help residents across the State.”

Sen. Biss said he realizes people are frustrated and disappointed in the lack of progress in Springfield, but he is committed to working with colleagues in the legislature to help break through the impasse.

“As unacceptable as the situation is, I remain hopeful that we can find a constructive way out of it,”  Sen. Biss said. “I intend to work hard to move us in that direction, and I look forward to discussing with my constituents how we can make it happen.”

All three legislators will be able to provide an update on progress made in working groups, budget negotiations and more.
