The City of Evanston’s Special Recreation staff, in collaboration with the Evanston Fire Department, will provide training in the Special Olympics Unified Sports of Bocce and Flag Football this summer.

The Unified Sports program promotes social inclusion through shared sports training and a competition experience. Special Olympics athletes will be paired with members of the Evanston Fire Department for weekly bocce ball and flag football practice on eight Sundays, June 19 through August 7. Flag football will be played in Leahy Park and bocce ball will be played at Lovelace Park.

Special Olympics competition for each sport will take place during this fall.
