The City of Evanston will host its sixth annual recycling event from 9 a.m. to noon on July 9 at Evanston Township High School, 1600 Dodge Ave. The event provides residents an opportunity to recycle a variety of items, securely shred documents, securely dispose of prescription and over-the-counter medications, and obtain recycling education materials.
Electronic materials accepted for recycling include televisions, cell phones, computers (towers and laptops), VHS and DVD players, printers and scanners, DVR/Cable boxes, fax machines, mp3 players and PDAs, mice, keyboards, drivers, and video game consoles. Other items that will be collected include clothing and shoes, household batteries, Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs (CFLs), ink cartridges, plastic grocery bags, reusable shopping bags, and tennis shoes.
Random Acts of Flowers, a non-profit organization with a branch location in Evanston, will be collecting vases to use for flower deliveries to community members in nearby health care facilities.
