Volunteers from Evanston’s two Rotary Clubs made much needed repairs in May to two Evanston home. The Rotariamns were assisted by memebres of Evanston Township High School Interact Club.
Approximately 30 volunteers performed a variety repairs to walls, plumbing, ceilings as well as painting, decluttering and cleaning. This effort was part of “Rebuilding Together North Suburban Chicago” in which dozens of area homes are repaired by volunteers. Supported by local businesses and community groups, hundreds of volunteers were involved throughout the area.
Rebuilding Together is a nationwide enterprise, bringing together thousands of community volunteers to provide free home repairs and modifications for low-income Americans with a focus on the elderly, the disabled, military veterans and families in need. By rehabilitating and improving homes at no cost to homeowners, the volunteers make it possible for recipients to remain in safe and healthy homes, keep their independence and dignity and preserve their home equity.
