This morning, July 3, 2016 at approximately 5:05 a.m., a 25-year old man from Beach Park was shot in his torso, arm and leg while he was in the parking lot of the IHOP restaurant in the 100 block of Asbury Avenue. He walked into the emergency room at St. Francis Hospital. His wounds are not considered life threatening, said Commander Joseph Dugan of the Evanston Police Department.
The initial investigation revealed that the victim along with several witnesses were in the parking lot of the restaurant when a man, described as being in his 20s, medium build, and wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, approached and asked the victim what was his gang affiliation. When the victim denied being a gang member, the man pulled out a handgun and shot the victim three times and fled the scene in a grey vehicle, said the Commander.
Evanston police detectives are currently investigating the incident and following up several credible leads, said the Commander.
