The City of Evanston has launched a new service offering residents convenient text message and email reminders for refuse, recycling and yard waste collection.

The courtesy notifications are available to residents of each pick-up zone, and will be sent out to subscribers weekly at 6 p.m. on the day prior to their collection day. In addition to the weekly refuse collection reminders, subscribers will also receive notifications regarding special holiday collection schedules, seasonal yard waste reminders, and spring and fall bulk trash pick-up.

To sign up, residents should visit cityofevanston.org/refuse or call/text 847-448-4311. Residents can also subscribe to refuse collection notifications via text message:

  • For Monday pick-up zone notifications, text COE MONDAY to 468311
  • For Tuesday pick-up zone notifications, text COE TUESDAY to 468311
  • For Wednesday pick-up zone notifications, text COE WEDNESDAY to 468311
  • For Thursday pick-up zone notifications, text COE THURSDAY to 468311
  • For Friday condo recycling notifications, text COE FRIDAY to 468311

Residents who would like to sign up only for seasonal bulk trash pick-up reminders may do so by visiting cityofevanston.org/bulktrash.

Regular refuse collections are provided weekly, Monday through Thursday, for one- to four-unit residences in Evanston. The City’s recycling program picks up recyclables on the same day as refuse, and collects condominium recycling on Fridays. Yard waste collections occur seasonally on residents’ regular refuse collection day.
