Enrich Evanston is one of 64 recipients of a special $1,000 Chicago Community Trust Acting Up Award, which will enable the organization to run a free community workshop, “Enrich Evanston Through the Arts,” in October.
“Enrich Evanston firmly believes that the arts can be a tool for educating the community and provide a bridge to bring our divided communities together,” said Chair Penelope Sachs. “Enrich Evanston Through the Arts … will focus on deepening racial and ethnic awareness, knowledge of Evanston’s racial history, and appreciation for our diversity. It will be led by Dr. Gilo Kwesi Logan, a diversity trainer and facilitator, an artist, and a fifth-generation Evanstonian.”
Enrich Evanston is a collaborative organization formed to improve the diversity and inclusiveness of its partner arts organizations. Founding organizations include Actors Gymnasium, Evanston Dance Ensemble, Evanston Symphony Orchestra, and North Shore Choral Society.
An Acting Up award also went for building Little Free Libraries in the Fifth Ward.
