The City of Evanston is one of only six local governments in the nation to receive the Public Technology Institute’s (PTI) 2016 “Tech Savvy” award designation, which recognizes PTI member local governments that use technology to address issues, current challenges, and future opportunities across the enterprise. This is the third consecutive year that Evanston has received the award.
In its award notification, PTI stated that the “Tech Savvy” designation was awarded to governments “that have proven they have exceptional talent, great ideas, a spirit of teamwork and collaboration, creativity, technology leadership and proven technology best practices across the entire enterprise.”
PTI’s award announcement highlighted Evanston’s new Digital Services team, which was formed this year to coordinate open data, analytics and smart city initiatives. The team is also responsible for the City website, 311 Center, digital efforts, and serves as a champion for residents as it relates to the digital experience.
Ronda Mosley, PTI Deputy Executive Director for Research and Government Services, she said, “This is a well-deserved recognition for all your efforts, over the years, to be a first class local government and to create technology programs that serve your constituents internally and externally.”
Other communities that received PTIs 2016 designation are Durham County, NC; Mesa, Ariz; Montgomery County, MD; Pinellas County, Fla; and Sacramento County, Cal.
