At approximately 9:07 p.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2016, Evanston Fire Department companies were dispatched for a structure fire at 1719 Lyons Street in Evanston, which is a two story frame multi-family house.
First arriving companies found heavy smoke coming from the first floor door on the alpha side of the structure. The alarm was immediately upgraded to a Code 4, which brought additional Evanston fire companies to the scene.
Suppression companies were able to locate and extinguish the fire, which had started in the kitchen area of the first floor. The fire was brought under control and the alarm struck at 10:10 p.m.
The two residents of the second floor will not be displaced. One resident of the first floor will be displaced. The Red Cross has been notified and will be assisting.
There were no reports of injuries to civilians or fire personnel. The Evanston Fire Prevention Bureau will be investigating the fire.
