Due to seasonal lifeguard and beach staff going back to school, some Evanston beaches will have reduced weekday hours for swimming for the remainder of the 2016 summer season.
Beaches with limited weekday hours include:
- Greenwood Street Beach and South Boulevard Beach – Open for swimming from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on weekdays, beginning Monday, August 22 through Friday, September 2.
- Clark Street Beach – Open for swimming from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on weekdays, beginning Wednesday, August 24 through Friday, September 2.
Beaches will still be open for non-swimming activities before 4:30 p.m.
Lighthouse Beach and Lee Street Beach will maintain normal hours, 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., for the remainder of the season. In addition, all five public swimming beaches will continue to be open from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, and on Labor Day, Monday, September 5.
Evanston residents are reminded to take advantage of the two remaining free beach days on Mondays, August 22 and 29. The free beach day on August 22 will be held at Clark Street Beach, and the free day on August 29 will be held at Lee Street Beach.
