On Aug. 31 at approximately 8:40 p.m., the Evanston Police Department responded to a report of an attempted sexual assault that just occurred at Brummel Park, 148 Brummel Street. The victim, a 38 year old female Evanston resident was pushing her two year old child in a stroller when she was struck in the back of the head by a man, knocking her to the ground, said Commander Joseph Dugan of the Evanston Police Department. The man got on top of the woman and began removing some of the her clothes, during which time the woman screamed and fought the man, which attracted the attention of witnesses in the area, said the Commander.

 The man fled westbound on Dobson Street on foot. The woman was bruised and scratched from the incident, but did not require medical attention.  The child was not physically injured during the incident.  Evanston police detectives along with the Evanston Police victim services unit responded to the scene. 

The man is described as a light-skinned Male/Black or Hispanic, 5’06”, thin build, short hair and thin beard.  The offender was last seen wearing a red tank-top and grey pants.
