In an effort to increase collaboration, connections and relationships among local community organizations and residents, the City of Evanston is excited to announce the launch of a new and improved website. The easy-to-use web-based platform serves as a community hub for Evanston’s wide array of volunteer opportunities and events, and matches volunteers and organizations based on interest and need.

The new, mobile-friendly Volunteer Evanston website features ongoing and upcoming volunteer opportunities, provides coordinator contact information for each opportunity, and allows volunteers to conveniently track their service hours. All volunteers must register on the new website by visiting and clicking “Sign Up.”

Volunteer Evanston is a collaboration of the City of Evanston, Northwestern University, Evanston Community Foundation, Evanston Township High School District 202 and Evanston/Skokie School District 65.

United Way Evanston Day of Caring October 1
Community members are invited to have fun while helping various organizations throughout the city as part of the United Way Evanston Day of Caring on Saturday, October 1, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., or until projects are completed. The goal of the event is to bring together 300 volunteers to show their appreciation and give back to the Evanston community.

Volunteers of all ages are encouraged to visit to sign up for one of the many projects available that day to assist Evanston organizations, including PEER Services, Y.O.U., Connections for the Homeless, and the City of Evanston. Available volunteer opportunities include donation sorting, citywide park cleanup and more.

Before heading to their volunteer opportunities on October 1, all participants are invited to enjoy free food and beverages at a celebration event on the Walker Terrace at Northwestern University’s Ryan Field, located at 1501 Central St., from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.

All Evanston Day of Caring volunteers will be provided with a free goodie bag. Bags may be picked up on Wednesday, September 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave., Room 2402.
