This morning, Sept. 8, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Evanston police officers responded to a 9-1-1 call that a person was shot in the 1000 block of Dodge Avenue, said Perry Polinski of the Evanston Police Department. Upon arrival, officers located a 23-year old Evanston man with one gunshot wound to the upper right arm. The victim was transported by Evanston Fire Department paramedics to Evanston North Shore University Hospital where he was listed in good condition.

Witnesses told police they saw two black men in their late teens to early 20’s, one wearing a black jacket, fleeing from the scene on foot in a southwesterly direction, said Mr. Polinski.

Detectives are conducting an investigation into the shooting. The victim is uncooperative, said Mr. Polinski. While a motive is unclear at this point in time, investigators believe this was not a random act, he said.
