Hagerty Consulting, a local emergency-management firm, held food drives earlier this month to aid the recovery efforts for Southeastern Louisiana communities. The weeklong food drive began on Aug. 31, when Potbelly Sandwich Shop donated 25% of its profits between 4 and 7 p.m. to the flood recovery efforts, and Steve Hagerty, Evanston resident and Hagerty Consulting founder and president, matched that donation as well as any donations made at the door.

All proceeds were given directly to Disaster Aid USA, an aid agency currently on the ground in Louisiana supporting recovery efforts. During the following week, Rotary International provided a central location for people to bring their canned goods for the Evanston Corps Community Center of Salvation Army to support the needs of this community. Hagerty Consulting and Hoopla Communications partnered to donate $1 to the Baton Rouge Food Bank for each can donated, which, although it lost a devastating amount of supplies in the disaster, continued to support the community’s recovery.
