Join Age-Friendly Evanston to celebrate the adoption of the Age-Friendly Evanston Action Plan on Thursday, September 29, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., at the Levy Senior Center, 300 Dodge Ave. Refreshments will be served.
The City joined the World Health Organization’s (WHO) “Age-Friendly Cities” project to provide a system to educate, encourage, promote, and recognize improvements that will make Evanston more user-friendly not only for older residents but for residents of all ages.
The Evanston Age-Friendly Task Force developed an Age-Friendly Action Plan that was approved by the Evanston City Council on June 20, 2016. Recommendations cover eight key areas:
- Planning
- Housing
- Transportation
- Communication
- Community Support and Health Services
- Outdoor Spaces and Buildings
- Social and Civic Participation and Employment
- Visioning
