Cynthia Sawyer-Engelen, 1928-2016, nee Lewis, age 88, of Evanston, formerly of Wilmette, passed away peacefully, from cancer on October 6, surrounded by loving family.  Beloved wife of the late Tom M Sawyer for 33 years and the late Rodney E. Engelen for 10 years; Loving mother of Cynthia Love, Dianne Sawyer Lipkin (David) and Tom L Sawyer; devoted grandmother and great grandmother to many.  She was also an aunt 35 nieces and nephews.

Cynthia was born in Osterville MA, and was an RN, leaving for the Chicago area with her new husband in 1950, and settling in Wilmette, in 1955.  She moved to Evanston in 2010. In addition to raising her family and working as a family planning nurse for the city of Evanston, she participated in many interests and hobbies including: tennis, fishing, golf, bridge, books, Chinese cooking, tutoring students at Central school, gardening, politics, and she was a Democratic election judge. She was an avid Cubs fan and would have been so excited to see the play off games.
