On Saturday, Oct. 22, at approximately 9:43 a.m., an Evanston Police Officer was on foot taking down the stop signs at the intersection of Dodge Avenue and Emerson Street due to the power being out.  The officer just dropped the stop sign at the southwest corner and was walking in the crosswalk northbound when she was struck by a dump truck that was traveling eastbound on Emerson Street.  The officer, who is a 19 year veteran of the department was transported to Evanston Hospital with several injuries and was in stable condition, said Commander Joseph Dugan of the Evanston Police Department.

The Northern Regional Major Crimes Task Force – Major Crash Assistance Team has been activated and is conducting an investigation into the crash.
