ETHS employees Richard Alexander (Book Distribution Center), Traci Brown-Powell (Instructional & Informational Technology Department) and Zeynep Kinaci (English and History Departments) received the 2016-17 Guillebeaux-Arceneaux Spirit Award at Evanston Township High School District 202.

In addition to his leadership among the support staff at ETHS, Alexander was commended for his personification of excellence and service to both teachers and students. Brown-Powell, who established the ETHS Books “R” Us Book Club, was recognized for her contributions to the community and District 65 as well as District 202. Known among staff, students and parents as a problem-solver, Kinaci was praised for her professional dedication to both the World Languages & Bilingual Education Department as well as the English and History Departments.

Award recipients were selected by the Spirit Award Selection Committee from a larger group of nominations written by fellow employees. This award program is an ETHS tradition, where staff celebrate the work and dedicated spirit of support staff in the high school. The award recognizes the spirit of dedication to all ETHS students, loyalty and support for colleagues, and commitment to family and community, values that were expressed and reflected by the life of former ETHS employees, Ernestine Guillbeaux and Sharon Arceneaux.

The ETHS Support Systems Association funds and runs the annual program as a way to honor support staff at the high school.
