For the eighth consecutive year, volunteer practitioners treated patients over a two-day event at the Levy Senior Center, 300 Dodge Ave. At Dental Access Days, organized by Bill McKinley and Heather McKinley, clients could choose from a variety of diagnostic, restorative, surgical, endodontic, and prophylactic services.
A major development this year is that the equipment to create the eight dental workstations has been permanently donated by The Giving Hand Foundation. Brad Weiss, DDS, a longtime supporter of the event, also donated a hand-held imaging device.
With the addition of permanent equipment, Mr. McKinley said, “we hope to stage another clinic mid-to- late winter.”
More than 50 volunteers gave time and expertise to provide dental care, performing $72,670 worth of dental procedures. Members of the Evanston Lighthouse Rotary Club helped set up and tear down the temporary dental clinic.
