On Nov. 22, 2016, Monica Wallace, entered a guilty plea at the Cook County 2nd District Municipal Courthouse in Skokie to the charge of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol-Resulting in Death, said Commander Joe Dugan of the Evanston Police Department. She was sentenced to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Ms. Wallace, an Evanston resident, was the driver of a vehicle on Sept. 27, 2015 at 2:20 a.m. in the 1700 block of Dodge Avenue that struck multiple parked vehicles and rolled over, said the Commander. A male passenger in Ms. Wallace’s vehicle, Lamart Bailey, 45 years old and a resident of Evanston, died at Evanston Hospital due to injuries he received in the crash. Mr. Bailey was a veteran of the United States Army. Ms. Wallace was charged after a crash investigation by the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force Major Crash Assistance Team, Commander Dugan said.
