Sustainable Programs Manager Catherine Hurley will leave her job at the City on Dec. 9 for a position at the Argonne National Laboratory, leading its sustainability efforts.
In announcing Ms. Hurley’s departure, City Manager Wally Bobkiewicz said, “Catherine has made a substantial contribution to the City since starting with us in 2010. She has converted the City’s sustainability efforts to a whole new area focusing on the livability of Evanston. The City’s active participation in the Sustainability Tools for Assessing & Rating Communities (STAR) community process and our new ‘Managing to Livability’ initiative are just a few of her lasting legacies to our community. Catherine’s thoughtfulness, intelligence, extraordinary initiative and dedication to her profession has made the City of Evanston a better place and those fortunate to work with her these past six years better professionals. I’m thrilled that Catherine now transitions to ever bigger challenges ahead.”
At the Nov. 28 City Council meeting, aldermen praised Ms. Hurley and thanked her for her contributions to the City.
