Members of the Evanston Police Department were among those who took part in the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes walk event hosted by the Northwest Center Against Sexual Assault. It has been reported that every two minutes someone in America is sexually assaulted. The Evanston Police Department understands the detrimental effect these crimes have on individuals, families, and the community as a whole.

This was the third annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event, which aims to raise awareness of sexual assault and sexual abuse and those affected by such heinous acts.  The walk is designed to have men walk in women’s heels as a way to bring attention and raise awareness. The real focus is the many survivors of sexual assault
of sexual abuse.
