On Friday, December 2, 2016 at approximately 4:00 P.M. the Evanston Police Department responded to the Foster Street Elevated Station at 900 Foster St. for a report from the CTA of a person struck by a train and possibly pinned underneath the fourth car. A rescue unit and paramedics from the Evanston Fire Department also responded.
Upon arrival, Evanston Fire paramedics found the victim deceased and Police investigators learned from a witness that a man had reportedly jumped from the platform in front of the train. The incident is being investigated as a suicide. Also, currently, Police investigators and Fire Department personnel remain on the scene as they await the arrival of heavy equipment with which to extricate the victim who has not yet been positively identified but is described as approximately 20-30 years of age. The area of the Foster St. Elevated Station will be inaccessible for the duration.
