The opening reception for “Aesthetic Options,” works by the Evanston Art Center’s Figurative Sculpture Class, was held at on Dec. 4 at the Art Center, 1717 Central St.
The studio exhibit featured artwork by students of Barbara Goldsmith, Sheila Oettinger, and Vincent Hawkins and by students in the Independent Study class. Some students, who vary from beginner to professional level, learn various sculpture techniques and methods to create sculptures inspired by life models; others are interested in abstract or organic forms. The pieces are fired stoneware clay with the addition of mixed media and glazes.
The “Aesthetic Options” exhibit continues to Dec. 21; gallery hours are 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Mon.-Thurs.; 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Fri.; and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sat. and Sun.
