The Kiwanis Club of Evanston honored three scholar athletes from Evanston Township High School on Nov. 29. ETHS seniors Krystal Forrester, Chris Rivera, and Elyjah Williams received the Ted Van Zelst Award.
Krystal, a Girls’ Basketball team member who has played the sport since the third grade, has been a four-year starter on ETHS team. She has been actively involved in Girls Play Sports which encourages elementary and middle school girls to become involved in athletics.
Elyjah, a member of the Boys’ Basketball team, has also played football and has enjoyed sports since elementary school. He was active in the leadership of the Justin Wynn Foundation.
Chris, who is on the ETHS Wrestling team, was not able to attend the awards event but was also recognized for his academic and athletic success.
Each student received a certificate recognizing their accomplishment, a book on leadership, and a gift certificate. The honorees are among the 200 high school students who have been selected for the Ted Van Zelst Kiwanis Award since its inception in 2007.
