A resident of Evanston’s 5th Ward, Misty Witenberg, announced her candidacy for alderman on Dec. 6.
A social justice and equality activist, Ms. Witenberg is also an advocate for children and working families, vulnerable minorities, and women’s health issues. She served as a three-time volunteer leader for Evanston Girl Scouts and is the mother of three children who attend Evanston Township High School, Lincolnwood Elementary, and Childtime Learning Center.
Ms. Witenberg is a web content strategist and former journalist and has served as a staff editor for “SHAPE,” “Fit Pregnancy,” and “Mom & Baby” magazines.
This will be Ms. Witenberg’s first run for a public office. She will begin scheduling meetings with local community leaders and residents soon.
