The 2016-17 season marks Evanston Hockey’s 50th Anniversary, and in celebration of that milestone will host two fun-filled days of on- and off-ice activities, with a culminating event of Senior Night on Saturday honoring graduating players – both young men and women — involved in the Evanston Hockey program. Friday night activities will be hosted from 6 – 10:30 p.m. and Saturday activities will run from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. at Robert Crown Community Center, 1701 Main Street, in Evanston.
This second annual event will feature regular season and exhibition games among teams, with chuck-a-puck and shoot-the-puck events between some of the scheduled games. There will be free refreshments and raffle opportunities, including a chance to win an autographed Corey Crawford jersey, and a chance to meet the Chicago Blackhawks Ice Crew. All proceeds will benefit Evanston Hockey’s player scholarship fund, which is committed to keeping Evanston’s Hockey Program affordable for all Evanston youth.
Evanston Hockey will be giving away free hot dogs in celebration of its 50th anniversary; Candlelite Chicago and Pork & Mindy’s will be giving away free pizza and pulled pork & chicken sandwiches as exclusive food sponsors; Evanston Ice Company concession stand will be selling ice cream for $1, and Beaver’s Donuts food truck will donate a portion of sales to support programming and scholarships. Many other sponsors have made this event possible.
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the EYHA program, teams will be wearing alternate jerseys sporting the contest-winning logo by Betsy Robinson, mother of JV Team Captain, Will Robinson, specifically designed to celebrate this milestone.
The Senior Night ceremony will take place immediately before each respective game. The Girls High School game is scheduled to begin at 7:50 p.m. and the Boys Varsity game is scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m. All games are subject to start earlier.
