On  Feb. 3, at approximately 12:16 a.m., the Evanston Police Department  was dispatched to a car dealership in the 1000 block of Chicago Avenue, said Commander Joe Dugan of the Evanston Police Department. Upon arrival, police discovered a glass door broken out and one of the overhead bay doors wide open.  Officers did not locate anyone in the building, but did find one of the offices inside was broken into and also located an unoccupied vehicle running inside.

A short time later, Evanston police were was notified by the Chicago Police Department that they recovered two unoccupied BMW brand vehicles from the dealership near Lake Shore Drive and Fullerton Avenue.  Management from the dealership was able to confirm that a total of five vehicles were stolen in the incident, four BMW brand vehicles and one Porsche.  As of 3 p.m. on Feb. 3, four of the five vehicles have been recovered in Chicago.  The only vehicle currently missing is a 2013 BMW X3, white in color, said Cmdr. Dugan. 

Evanston police detectives are currently following up on investigative leads, including canvassing for video near the dealership and the locations where the vehicles were recovered.  A video from the dealership showed six offenders enter the dealership.
