The Evanston City Clerk’s Office reminds voters of important information for the February 28, 2017 Primary Election. Local Primary Election races include Evanston Mayor and 5th Ward Alderman.

  • Jeffrey P. “Jeff” Smith

Candidates for 5th Ward Alderman are:

As a result of a 1992 referendum, for the Mayoral election only, if one candidate gathers more than 50 percent of the votes cast in the Primary Election then that candidate will be elected Mayor. If no one candidate receives more than 50 percent of the vote, then the two highest vote getters will move on to the April 4, 2017 Consolidated Election.

For 5th Ward Alderman, the two highest vote getters will move on to the April 4, 2017 Consolidated Election, even if one candidate receives more than 50 percent of the vote. The 1992 referendum only applies to Mayoral candidates.

Early voting will continue in Room G-300 of the Lorraine H. Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave., Monday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., through Monday, February 27.

On Tuesday, February 28, voters should report to their local polling location, which will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. There will be no voting at the Morton Civic Center on February 28. Voters can find their polling location online at cookcountyclerk.com/elections/voterprofile.

Early voting for the Consolidated Election will take place in Room G-300 of the Morton Civic Center from Monday, March 20 through Monday, April 3, 2017. Early voting hours will be announced in March. On Election Day, Tuesday, April 4, 2017, voters should report to their polling location.
