Community members are invited to learn about and discuss improvements to the Main Street Corridor, from McDaniel to Dodge Avenues, at the 2nd Ward Meeting on Thursday, March 9, 7 p.m., at the J.E.H. Education Center, 1500 McDaniel Ave. The ward meeting is open to all.

The goals of the project include improvements to pedestrian access, vehicular traffic flow, key intersections, and retail center driveways, as well as a review of the corridor’s bicycle network. Proposed alternatives will include new sidewalk on the south side of Main Street. Potential project impacts include a reduction in on-street parking and removal of a limited number of trees.

At the meeting, the engineering firm, Stanley Consultants, and City of Evanston staff will present the following:

  • Existing conditions in the corridor
  • Proposed alternatives for consideration
  • Project schedule

The goal of the meeting is to receive community input regarding preliminary design alternatives for further development and refinement.
