In December 2015, Vermillion Enterprises, LLC submitted an application for approval of a Planned Development to construct a 27-story mixed use building with 217 dwelling units and retail space on the ground floor at 601-611 Davis Street. The proposal was to construct the building on the site of a vacant lot and Chase Bank drive-through property, incorporating the existing two-story University Building at the northwest corner of Chicago Avenue and Davis Street.
The proposal did not advance through the City approval process, but at a combined First and Fourth Ward meeting held at the Evanston Public Library on March 7, the developers presented a proposal to increase the height to 33 stories and 318 residential units. Stay tuned.
