A lake effect snow warning has been posted by the National Weather Service. Overnight tonight we expect lake effect snow to begin and there is a threat for heavy amounts of snow. Pin pointing exactly where in the Chicago area the heavy snow will fall is difficult but Evanston is in the threat area.

Starting after 10:00pm tonight lake effect snow may begin falling. At this time we are anticipating anywhere from 3″ to 7″ of lake effect snow by Tuesday at 12:00pm. Snow is then expected to begin to shift to the Southeast and away from our area.

Public Works has a larger than normal crew on standby overnight to respond to this threat if necessary. Crews are ready to begin plowing and salting as soon as conditions require.

Parking restrictions are possible with this next round of snow.

More updates will follow as necessary.
