The north end of the Dog Beach is currently closed until further notice as a result of high waves and rain over the past week, which have led to the following issues:
Limited amount of space between the water and the fence line
Exposed root systems of dune grass
A portion of the concrete walkway on the north end of the beach has collapsed and has been removed
Potential additional erosion under the remaining portion of the concrete walkway
All users and dogs are advised to remain on the south end of the Dog Beach. We have placed the sign, pictured below, about halfway down the beach to indicate the beginning of the area that is closed. We appreciate your cooperation.
Thank you to the staff in the Environmental Services Bureau of the Public Works Agency for their hard work to prepare the Dog Beach for opening this Saturday, April 1 with these unexpected changes in conditions.
