On April 14, a 39-year old Evanston man was taken into custody in connection with a long term narcotics investigation that was conducted by the Evanston Police Department Special Operations Group in partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation – Safe Streets North Task Force, said Commander Joe Dugan of the Evanston Police Department.
The investigation was initiated in 2015 and targeted the sale of heroin in Evanston, said the Commander. During the investigation, numerous narcotics purchases were made by undercover officers in order to identify individuals involved in the sale and distribution of heroin in Evanston. The man taken into custody is currently being charged with five counts of Delivery of a Controlled Substance to undercover agents in Evanston. Approximately 80 grams of heroin was recovered during the undercover purchases, said the Commander.
