“Just when we thought the Republican proposal to rip apart the American health care system had scraped the bottom of the barrel, the GOP has found a new low. The latest Republican idea to breathe life back into their failed Obamacare repeal bill is to allow states to discriminate against people with pre-existing conditions.
“None of the terrible proposals in the GOP bill have changed. Their legislation would still impose a crippling age tax on older Americans, rip health care away from 24 million people, give a $600 billion tax cut to the ultra-wealthy, and leave everyone else paying more for less care. On top of that, they’ve added provisions that would allow states to get rid of the Obamacare protections for people with pre-existing conditions and allow insurers to exclude essential health benefits from the plans they sell, including maternity care, prescription drugs, emergency care, and mental health services.
“Despite the massive public opposition to their plot to repeal the Affordable Care Act, Republicans don’t seem to get the message. I’m standing with my constituents and the American people in saying ‘hell no’ to their latest effort.”
