The Evanston Fire Department has promoted Firefighter Gary Hicks to captain and Firefighter Sean Heneghan to fire apparatus operator (F.A.O.). Captain Hicks is a 14-year veteran of the department with numerous certifications and a passion for emergency medical services. He is chairperson of the Local 742 EMS Committee and has taken a leadership role in many projects with the Evanston Fire Department.

F.A.O. Heneghan is an 11-year veteran of the department and has a held a leadership role with the Evanston Fire Department Pension Board for the past six years. He has also been a lead mentor for new paramedics going through the Presence Saint Francis Hospital EMS system. As fire apparatus operator, he will be in charge of maintaining and operating multiple types of vehicles in the Evanston Fire Department’s fleet.

“Captain Hicks and F.A.O. Heneghan will be great assets to the Evanston Fire Department and City of Evanston residents,” said Chief Brian Scott.
